For its next meeting, which is planned for February 29, 2016 from 15.30 – 18.30 CET, TAXE 2 has invited the ‘Dutch Minister responsible for taxation’ in its capacity as President of the Council of the European Union. On February 12, 2016 the Dutch State Secretary for Finances accepted the invitation. (NB In the Netherlands the State Secretary for Finances is the member of the cabinet that is responsible for taxes).

In his letter Mr. Lamassoure invites the Dutch State Secretary to present the programme of the Dutch Presidency and to discuss the issue of corporate tax avoidance, including the Anti-Tax Avoidance Package as presented by the European Commission on January 28, 2016.

According to the invitation sent by Mr. Lamassoure the exchange of views will take the format of a 10-15 minute intervention by the State Secretary, followed by a Q&A session with Members of TAXE 2, for example on the package of measures agreed upon in October 2015 as part of the OECD’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) project, their conversion into European legislation, as well as the Action Plan on Corporate Taxation in particular with regard to a Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB) and a minimum effective taxation.
