The European Parliament’s Committee of Inquiry into Money Laundering, Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion (PANA) has announced that it intends to organize 3 hearings to specifically look into the roles played by banks, accountants and lawyers in the setting-up of secret offshore constructions for their clients.

 

The first hearing is scheduled for January 24, 2017 from 9.00 to 12.30 CET. According to Pana this first hearing will focus on the professions in general. To what extent are they regulated and how do the applicable rules play out in practice?

 

The second hearing is scheduled for February 9, 2017 from 9.00 to 12.30 CET. According to Pana this second hearing will zoom in on concrete cases in different Member States.

 

The third hearing is scheduled for March 6, 2017 from 15.00 to 18.30 CET. According to Pana like the second hearing, this third hearing will zoom in on concrete cases in different Member States.
