On November 2, 2018, the fifteenth Polish-German intergovernmental consultation took place in Warsaw, Poland. During the consultation the Polish Minister of Finance and the German Minister of Finance signed a joint declaration on combating harmful tax practices. Thanks to the declaration, Poland and Germany will tighten cooperation in this area.

The Ministers of Finance also discussed taxing the digital economy in the context of its rapid development and the need to respond to changes taking place in this area.

Other subjects that were discussed are: 

·   reforms of the Economic and Monetary Union, including the strengthening of the European Stability Mechanism;

·   the current state of negotiations regarding Brexit; 

·   the multi-annual EU budget (the so-called Multiannual Financial Framework) for 2021-2027; and 

·   risk reduction activities in the banking sector within the EU.
