For many years it has been the declared goal of the international community to ensure fair and effective taxation of multinational corporations and to modernize taxation systems in line with advancing globalization and digitization. In order to achieve this goal, the taxation rights of the states are to be reorganized and adapted more closely to the value creation processes of companies. At the same time, a global effective minimum taxation is to be introduced, which ensures that globally active corporations make their contribution to the financing of the community.

An important step towards this was taken on July 1, 2021 when the members of the Inclusive Framework on BEPS reached a broad international agreement on the so-called "two-pillar project" for overcoming the challenges of taxing the digitized economy. 134 states and jurisdictions have now joined the agreement. The Finance Ministers of the G20 unanimously supported this comprehensive solution at their meeting in Venice on July 9th and 10th, 2021 and spoke out in favor of its rapid implementation.

In view of these upcoming global changes in the area of tax law, the Federal Ministry of Finance invites interested parties to its 8th Symposium on International Tax Policy which will take place on October 26, 2021. The results of the two-pillar project will be the focus of the discussions.

The online event will be held in English. Registrations can be made for each participant individually by October 15, 2021. Registrations for the event can be made here.
