Basic Function

LyondellBasell is seeking a Tax Intern for a full-time, paid internship during the summer. In this role you will gain hands on experience with numerous processes in tax, accounting, and learn valuable business skills while working on various projects during the summer.  The intern should be prepared to apply their classroom knowledge and perform accounting & analytical services for the tax department.


Roles & Responsibilities

·   Assist in preparing various workpapers and returns for the consolidated tax return including partnerships, corporations, international, and state returns

·   Assist in preparing various book/tax differences for the tax return and quarterly tax accounting calculations such as fixed assets depreciation, accruals, etc.

·   Assist in preparing monthly cash tax projections for US federal, state, and consolidated global cash taxes

·   Assist in preparing global quarterly reconciliations and tie-outs

·   Assist in various special tax projects


Min. Qualifications

·   Must be 18 years of age

·   Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status


Preferred Qualifications

·   Must be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or an equivalent degree

·   Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which requires ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task

·   Demonstrate basic knowledge in US GAAP and/or Tax principles

·   Must be highly self-sufficient and able to make self-directed decisions as well as support other accountants in the department

·   Possess excellent communication skills, both written and spoken with the ability to work well with others

·   Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis in excel

·   Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater
