Schneider Electric is a global specialist in energy management, with operations in over 100 countries.

As a senior member of Schneider Electric’s global Tax M & A team, reporting to the VP Global Tax M&A & Business Structuring, the M & A Director will take responsibility for leading the tax aspects of Mergers, Acquisitions, Disposals and reorganisation within Schneider Electric. As part of this role the person will be responsible for creating tax arbitrage on acquisitions and managing the tax impact of disposals in a proactive manner to minimize the tax cost. A key part of this role is the ability to work in partnership with the business and other Global functions as well as the tax department (each of the VPs responsible for 3 regions where the group operates).


·   Proactively manage all tax aspects of M & A activities with Schneider

·   Actively Managing highly complex transactions

·   This involves the due diligence at the initial stage to the integration of the target on acquisition

·   Managing the potential structuring of such acquisitions to ensure we effectively manage the effective tax rate

·   Manage the most efficient aspects of allocating the costs incurred to ensure the all elements of tax is managed and such costs minimised e.g. Vat, duties etc

·   Actively managing the tax aspects of potential disposals or reorganisations in the Group to ensure such transactions are undertaken in an efficient and effective manner

·   Building strong relations with other functions such as the M &A, Legal, Finance and the business to ensure such transactions are managed and communicated effectively

·   Actively building strong relationships within the tax function so that a clear link is developed with the Regional VPs and respective country Tax Managers -  this is vital to ensure a smooth transition of the acquisition to the actual country manager or VP responsible for the post acquisition integration

·   Creating visibility within the Tax function of the M & A activities

·   Acting as a “go to” expert for other members of the tax function in relation to M & A




·   Appropriate taxation and legal qualification with several years of M & A experience gained either in practice, ideally a Big Four firm, and/or the tax department of a major multinational

·   An accounting qualification would be helpful or broader financial and accounting experience could be very useful or valuation expertise /skills

·   Experience of managing international tax affairs for complex global companies, providing a level of US tax knowledge/ competency

·   Significant M & A experience, preferably with complementary experience of dealing with M & A matters on a Global basis

·   An ability to understand complex business structures and transactions

·   Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritise where necessary and push projects through to completion

·   Confidence in advising and challenging senior executives

·   An ambitious individual with high energy, drive and commitment to manage a demanding work load

·   Highly numerate with strong analytical, problem solving and modelling skills

·   An ability to engage, influence and manage relationships with key stakeholders/internal customers

·   Regarded as a ‘trusted advisor’ and credible when interfacing with the highest levels of Schneider’s executives.

·   Proven leadership and influencing skills

·   Well-developed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

·   The ability to speak French and English

·   A willingness to travel regularly
